Lasa at Kwentong Calamian Tagbanwa 2020

The current pandemic did not become a hindrance to the conduct of the Lasa at Kwentong Calamian Tagbanwa (Tastes and Tales of the Calamian Tagbanwa), a yearly event to celebrate the bounty of their indigenous food. It was brought to low-key community-level feast that even emphasized the need for food security in difficult times such as this. The Lamud-Marabal and Calawit Ancestral Domains conducted a Tagbanwa Food Festival on August 7 and 15, respectively.

Manokwari Declaration

Commitment of the two Provinces in Papua of Indonesia to ensure that development activities must always consider: environmental protection to ensure the life of the people; protection and preservation of biodiversity; wise and sustainable management and utilization of resources; and restoration of the degraded environment. This commitment is articulated in the Manokwari Declaration that was signed during the International Conference on Biodiversity and Creative Economy (ICBE) in Papua.

Food, Agroforestry, Social Inclusion in 2019 Samdhana Partners Meeting

The 2019 Samdhana Partners Meeting, 11 to 13 October 2019 in Pagerharjo Village, Samigaluh, Kulon Progo, Jogja was attended by around 50 participants, organizations and communities partner of Samdhana, from Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Molucca, and Papua. The meeting provided for participants and the community of Pagerharjo Village, who served as host and organizer of the event, a sharing, doing, and reflecting opportunity on food sovereignty, agroforestry, social inclusion, and the rights and livelihood of indigenous peoples and local communities.

Bringing the Taste and Tales of the Tagbanwa to the TUKLAS National Learning Fair

Coming out popular from the TUKLAS Regional Learning Fair in February 2019, the Lasa at Kwentong Tagbanwa, or Tagbanwa Tastes and Tales, was chosen to become one of the exhibitors at the TUKLAS National Learning Fair held last 29 March 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Philippines to showcase the accomplishments of the Tagbanwa communities in the Calamianes Group of Islands.

Showcasing “Krukies” : Tagbanwa innovations at the TUKLAS Pasundayag Central and Southern Luzon Innovation Fair

On February 12, 2019, the Calamian Tagbanwa indigenous peoples’ innovation on traditional rootcrops for food security was featured in the TUKLAS PASUNDAYAG Regional Innovation Fair for Central and Southern Luzon. This was conducted at Skydome, SM North EDSA in Quezon City.
