Clarification and recognition of indigenous people’s rights

Papua has deforestation and forest degradation rates below the national average. This means Papua preserving the forests; so, the big goal is to recognize and engage the communities in every activities of the forest management.

The Pro Poor Right Based Approach project is implemented by Samdhana and partners with support from IUCN. It is implemented in Papua in the context of national policies that support the fulfillment of people's rights, notably rights for forest. It's very important that we know, Papua is Indonesia's last frontier; it should be well preserved, using rights based approaches.
