Workshop on Natural Forests, Ancestral Domain and Land Conversions and its Implications on Climate Change on June 14-18, 2010

Samdhana is conducting a 'Workshop on Natural Forests, Ancestral Domain and Land Conversions (into agri and biofuel plantations, mining) and its Implications on Climate Change in the Philippines'.  This will be held in Davao City, Philippines on June 14-18, 2010.  IUCN NL-EGP Partners from the Philippines, indigenous peoples representatives and network partners are invited to attend.

The specific objectives of this workshop are:

a.  To share and draw upon the experiences of indigenous peoples communities affectd by land conversions and current policy challenges;
b.  To explore optons for establishing social and environmental parameters for a minimum acceptable land conversion policy;  and
c.  To link these options with Climate Change challenges and programmes and to move climate work to the next stage;
d.  To strengthen collaboration amongst EGP partners, indigenous peoples communities and other relevant groups/networks in addressing the challenges of land conversions and cliamte change impacts.
