Small Grants Program

Samdhana is the Southeast Asia Global Alliance Fund partner of the Global Greengrants network. The GGF Southeast Asia Advisory Board now merges with Samdhana to provide support to partners in Philippines, Indonesia, East Timor as well as the Mekong region. It provides small grants to fund grassroots initiatives up to approximately $5000 US.

Grants focus on equitable access and control over natural resources, which includes the following themes:

  1. Village based resource management schemes.(includes economic activities).
  2. Organizational strengthening
  3. Recovery and renewal of resources in conflict areas
  4. Defense of rights and access to natural resources.

Shared values between GGF and Samdhana grants are:

  1. To halt cycle of poverty, powerlessness, and environmental degradation.
  2. To provide support where other support is not available
  3. To respect for local knowledge
  4. To nurture grassroots leaders and organizations
  5. To act as a springboard for promoting networking and movement building, linking organizations and resources
  6. To commit to small, rapid, unbureaucratic grant making as part of the work
  7. To support non-partisan, non-violent action for social change
