Institutional Strengthening

Samdhana prioritizes building strong community institutions and/or their service providers.

Fellows, associates are committed to longer term partnerships with local community groups directly or indirectly receiving their services. With the Samdhana areas of expertise as starting point, fellows can provide direct assistance, facilitation, training upon request. These trainings are generally not one-off events and would require the mutual commitment with partners/trainees to use the skills learned to resolve issues and provide solutions. The follow through activities are as important as the main activities themselves.

Themes:

Visioning, problem analysis, planning, financial management systems
Assistance and opportunities for local community organizations
Leadership (individual, organizational) and change, includes exhange programs
Measuring effectiveness and impact
Samdhana offers retreats and sabbaticals to hone partners skills and perpetuate learning, and take them to the next phase applying their knowledge and skills directly in sites or in communities that need them.

Samdhana partners with Universities and Institutions in the region (i.e.SEARSOLIN in the Philippines), for short term development courses, with applied English courses, as well as masteral/doctoral degrees in development by local and community practitioners.

Fellows track partners' progress by looking at how their applied knowledge has assisted local communities so far.
